Melissa Shang is a junior at Harvard University. She was born with Charcot-Marie-Tooth disease, a form of muscular dystrophy, which means that she uses a power wheelchair and is passionate about disability rights and inclusion. Some of her proudest activism work has included co-authoring the middle-grade novel Mia Lee is Wheeling Through Middle School, writing for outlets like the New York Times and Teen Vogue, and advocating with disability rights groups nationwide.
