Casey Doherty (she/her) is a candidate for a Master’s in Disability Studies at the City University of New York’s (CUNY) School of Professional Studies. She earned her Bachelor’s degrees in Government and American Studies from Georgetown University. Casey is disabled by myalgic encephalomyelitis (ME), Long COVID, and tick-borne diseases. She is passionate about expanding pandemic mitigation measures, preventing interpersonal violence against disabled people, and making education accessible for all. Casey organizes with #MEAction and the Chronic Disease Coalition in Washington, D.C., where she lives. Casey is grateful to the Heumann-Armstrong Award team for their commitment to accessible education and support of disabled students.
