I appreciate Monica doing an interview for Equal Opportunities for Students. She was brave enough to share her life experiences through Tell Your Story.

A friend from high school told me she had been raped, and wanted a platform to talk about it. This was a hard thing for her to do, so we’re going to keep the comments and feedback positive. An alarming number of students are sexually assaulted on college campuses. Many of them try to come forward, to friends, parents, or faculty and are shunned or met with disbelief. We need to make sure sexual assault survivors are aware of the resources available to help them, and make sure that as a culture, we do everything we can not only to prevent future assaults, but to also make sure survivors feel comfortable coming forward. What do you think can be done to help sexual assault survivors feel more comfortable coming forward?
